In February 2002 the United Kingdom Government detailed an Energy Policy that aimed to meet 20% of the UK’s energy needs from renewable sources by 2020. At present these sources supply only 1% of those needs.
This is a world-wide initiative with increasing international concern about the continued use of both fossil fuel, and nuclear energy for power generation. Governments worldwide are making major efforts in research & development of renewable, environmentally acceptable energy sources.
Ocean energy is presently very poorly exploited as a commercial source of useful power, but constant movement in the form of waves, currents and tidal streams means that it has the potential for surpassing other renewable sources in many regions of the world.
Wave energy is particularly plentiful off the coasts of the United Kingdom, especially the west coasts, where energetic wave spectra are found for long periods of time.
OWEL has proven technology to provide energy from sustainable, natural resources which not only provide a guaranteed source of energy, but also have none of the negative by-products of carbon & nuclear based fuels.
